Book Oreade well in advance — only 14 seats per night means it fills up fast, especially in summer.

Why It Matters

Awarded 2 Michelin Keys (2025). One of very few hotels that occupies an entire restored medieval village — no neighboring streets, no other guests spilling in from elsewhere. The artist and musician in residence program brings world-class performers to an intimate 14th-century Romanesque church. The Oreade restaurant seats only 14 per night. Prices start from approximately EUR 1,076 for a double room.

An entire medieval hilltop village in the UNESCO-protected Val d'Orcia, brought back to life by American attorney Michael Cioffi starting in 2003. Rome-based architect Ilaria Miani designed the interiors, threading bespoke furniture, local stone and honey-colored plaster through each of the 20 individually decorated rooms and suites. The result is a hotel that doesn't feel like a hotel at all — more like a private village with exceptional food, a serious spa, and a genuine arts program built around resident musicians and visual artists.
