Manchester City
Industrial-chic millennial playhouse. Social atrium with communal games, local Manchester music references everywhere, and a genuinely lively bar scene seven nights a week.

Why It Matters
One of Manchester's most talked-about budget-to-mid-range hotels since opening, partly because its lobby beats most four-star public spaces in the city. The first hotel in Manchester with a digital 'Guestbook' wall where Instagram posts from guests appear in real-time. Michelin Guide-listed despite positioning itself squarely at the value end of the market.
Built on the site of a former hat factory in Spinningfields, Moxy Manchester City opened in 2022 and wears its industrial heritage lightly. The nine-storey new-build keeps a slice of the original weathered brick façade but is otherwise a sharp contemporary structure, its interiors channelling urban loft living complete with nods to Joy Division and The Smiths. Rooms are compact and the design is deliberately playful — think motion-activated LED guide lights, wall-mounted hanging rails instead of wardrobes, and 42-inch TVs angled perfectly for watching in bed. The real draw is Bar Moxy, which doubles as the front desk: you check in over a complimentary cocktail and the party rarely stops before 3am on weekends.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Bar Moxy operates a co-working offering during daytime hours — communal tables, fast Wi-Fi, Heart & Graft coffee on tap. Available to non-guests as well. No dedicated private offices.
The rear wall of Bar Moxy features a giant digital screen that alternates between news and a real-time Instagram feed. Guests upload their photos using the hotel's hashtag and see them displayed on the wall. First hotel in Manchester to offer this feature.
Open communal games zone in the Bar Moxy social atrium. Pool table, table tennis, foosball table, card games, and board games. Also features a photo booth. Bar and prosecco pong evenings are a regular feature. It's the kind of space where strangers end up playing together — intentionally.
Local live talent performs on the Spinningfields terrace every Saturday from 2pm to 7pm. Format rotates — acoustic sets, jazz bands, indie acts. Open to non-guests as well as hotel guests.
A proper photo booth in the lobby / social area. Popular with guests and a regular selfie spot.
