Chalets
Minimalist Scandinavian-meets-Alpine. Pared-back wood interiors, large glass walls that blur indoors and out, no fuss. Strictly adults-only. Deeply quiet — nearest neighbours are deer. The hosts (three generations of the Roš family) are warm without being intrusive.
Book the DUO massage in advance — €90 per person for 70 minutes, must be pre-arranged
Why It Matters
Only four chalets, max eight guests — it genuinely cannot get more exclusive. Award-winning architecture from day one (2003). The owners' daughter is Ana Roš, chef at nearby three-Michelin-star Hiša Franko, giving Nebesa a rare culinary connection. Near-total energy self-sufficiency via solar plant and heat pumps. 2025 Michelin Key. Clouds literally sit below the terrace on clear mornings.
Four identical 55 sqm larch-wood chalets perched almost 1,000 metres above the Soča Valley on the slopes of Kuk Mountain — that's the whole property. Maximum eight guests at any time. The chalets are built where a former ski hut stood, designed by architect Rok Klanjšček and awarded the Plečnik Gold Medal, the Piranesi Award, and a nomination for the Mies van der Rohe Award in 2004. Each unit has floor-to-ceiling glass on the front wall so the Julian Alps, Triglav National Park, and the distant Adriatic shimmer are never out of sight — clouds routinely sit below the terrace. In 2025, Nebesa became a Michelin Key property. It runs almost entirely on solar power and heat pumps.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Natural water slides, diving into river pools, abseiling down waterfalls. Must be done with a trained guide. Hosts can arrange.
Four kilometres of wire ropes run above the Učja river canyon at speeds up to 50 km/h beneath the Kanin mountain range. Organised locally, hosts can direct guests.
Tandem paragliding flights from Bovec airport over the Soča Valley. Views from altitude match those from the chalets — but you are airborne.
E-mountain bikes available to borrow at no extra charge. Guests can ride along the Kolovrat ridge border trail between Slovenia and Italy, with lunch possible at a mountain hut. Also available for cycling routes toward Bovec and the Soča Valley.
Guided e-bike tours around the Bovec area covering Soča Valley and Triglav National Park. Distance 45–60 km on mixed gravel and asphalt terrain, adjusted to guest fitness levels.
The Soča and its tributaries are legendary for the endangered marble trout — a catch-and-release only species. Local fishing permits required. The Soča Valley is one of Europe's top fly-fishing destinations.
Private guided tour through the Goriška Brda wine region. Stops include UNESCO Cividale del Friuli, the medieval village of Šmartno, Gonjače viewpoint, exclusive winery visits with tastings (Rebula and Merlot focus), Solkan bridge, and the Kolovrat WW1 open-air museum.
A joint venture by Nebesa and Hiša Franko using EU funds. Guests learn about the marble trout, Drežnica goats, and Cika cattle; taste štruklji, mountain cheese and curd from the kettle; pick herbs with the herbalist who forages for Ana Roš; and prepare food at a mountain cabin.
Direct access to mountain trails from the chalets. Options include the Kolovrat panoramic ridge walk (Walk of Peace, 1–2 hrs), shepherds' trails below Krn with fresh cheese at pasture settlements (1–3 hrs), ascent to Matajur (1642m, ~2 hrs), and the demanding 3-hour ascent to Krn peak (2244m). Hosts provide hiking logistics and recommendations.
Guided tour through the Julian Alps, Trenta Valley and Triglav National Park covering rivers, waterfalls, gorges, and WW1 history. Includes the highest Slovenian mountain pass Vršič and the route to Kranjska Gora.
Stand-up paddleboarding on an emerald lake at Most na Soči, paddling through houses into a canyon toward the warm Idrijca river. Approximately 2–3 hours.
The Soča River below is Slovenia's premier whitewater destination. Guides recommended for kayaking; rafting accessible for most. Hosts can point guests to local operators.
