Why It Matters
The building's history as a government headquarters dates to 1870, and Lorenzo Castillo — who's done work for Loewe in Madrid and Shanghai — gives the interiors serious design credentials. Only 47 rooms keeps it boutique. The Kamikaze Piano Club, with its award-winning bartender and grand piano, is the kind of bar you'd come back for on its own merits.
