NOT Hotel
Historic-industrial boutique. Stone walls, high ceilings, 1920s Athenian aesthetic layered over two centuries of chaotic history. Calm, intimate, feels more private house than hotel.
Room control (AC, shades, door lock) is managed via an app — useful to download before arriving
Why It Matters
One Michelin Key (2025). The building itself is the story — 200-plus years of Athens history visible in every wall. The family ownership, in-house olive oil from their own groves, and a dining program named after Greek goddesses make it feel genuinely local, not performatively Greek. It's also listed on Tablet Hotels.
NOT is an acronym for No Ordinary Things, and the name earns it. This centuries-old stone building in the Gazi/Kerameikos neighborhood has been a brothel, a barn for army horses, British barracks during World War II, housing for gas-factory workers, and a 1970s film studio. A Greek family — the same people behind the Gazarte music venue next door — rescued it from near-demolition, added iron and wood detailing that channels 1920s Athens, and opened it as a hotel. The result is 10 suites surrounding a 500 sqm walled courtyard of olive trees, herbs, and a pool. There is nothing chain-hotel about this place.
