Why It Matters
Oxford's only Michelin Key hotel (2025), and one of the very few genuinely independent luxury properties in the city. Rich literary and cultural history — Oscar Wilde was a guest. The Churchill Suites contain a rare life-size bronze bust of Winston Churchill by sculptor Oscar Nemon, the first of its kind exhibited in Oxford.
A 17th-century Headington stone building sitting at the head of the St Giles boulevard, the Old Parsonage manages the difficult trick of feeling genuinely residential. Oscar Wilde signed the guest book here in the late 1800s, and the place still carries that kind of quiet literary weight. The 35 individually designed rooms combine handmade Epoc beds and Carrara marble bathrooms with Wildsmith toiletries — all wrapped in original Oxford sketches and floor-to-ceiling oil portraits. In 2025, it became the recipient of Oxford's first-ever Michelin Key, one of only 19 awarded across the UK and Ireland.
