Olea Hotel
Romantic adults-only wine country retreat. Modern California comfort with a relaxed, personal feel — not a resort, not a B&B. Think plush robes, heated bathroom floors, complimentary wine in the lobby, and frogs singing in the hills at night.
Book a Poolside Cottage if budget allows — at 600 sq ft with an indoor/outdoor fireplace and direct pool access, they're the standout accommodation
Why It Matters
One of the most highly-rated small hotels in Sonoma County, rebuilt post-2017 Nuns Fire into a more polished version of itself. Glen Ellen Star, a Michelin-starred wood-fired restaurant, is a 6-minute walk down the road — a major draw for food-focused travelers. The combination of genuine hospitality, inclusive amenities (complimentary wine, breakfast, snacks), and a tranquil hillside setting puts it in a class above most wine country lodging at this price point.
Olea Hotel is a 15-room adults-only boutique retreat on a hillside in Glen Ellen, the quieter and less-touristed part of Sonoma Valley. The property was largely destroyed in the 2017 Nuns Fire and rebuilt from the ground up — what emerged is sharper than what came before: upgraded rooms, two standalone poolside cottages, a year-round heated pool and hot tub, and an on-site spa. Ancient oak and olive trees shade the grounds. It's small enough that the staff remembers your name.
