Ask Betty or Matteo for their own recommendations before heading out — they know Florence like almost nobody else and will give you genuinely useful, non-obvious tips

Why It Matters

Designed by the team behind Florence's most talked-about small hotels (SoprArno Suites, AdAstra), this is the third in a trio that has quietly set the standard for design-forward boutique accommodation in the city. The address — historic Via dei Serragli, where notable Florentines have lived since the Medici era — doesn't hurt either.

A 14-room boutique B&B spread across the top two floors of an 18th-century Florentine palazzo. The Oltrarno neighborhood on the south bank of the Arno is quieter and more local than the tourist-thick historic center, and that's exactly the point. Co-owners Betty Soldi and Matteo Perduca — the same design minds behind SoprArno Suites and AdAstra — filled every room with flea-market finds, bespoke artworks, and original building features: frescoes restored under the eye of the Belle Arti, a 200-year-old Toile de Jouy wallpaper preserved intact, terracotta floors left as found. No two rooms are alike. Breakfast is included; a restaurant is not.

King Deluxe Room

At the very top of the building, this was once the studio of Ken Scott's muse, Susan Nevelson. Original textured walls and terracotta floors have been left intact; mirrored touches bounce the light from multiple windows around the room. The freestanding bathtub sits in the bathroom alongside a separate rain shower and twin sinks — from the tub you can see the Duomo dome. The best room in the house for rooftop views.

King Room

Three rooms in this category, each quite different from the others. Some have wall and ceiling frescoes; one is wrapped entirely in a preserved 200-year-old Toile de Jouy wallpaper. These are among the largest rooms at 45 sqm. The freestanding bathtub sits in the bedroom itself — positioned so you can soak while looking straight at the Duomo's cupola. Eclectic furnishings throughout.
