Mandarina
Eco-luxury jungle resort meets dramatic architecture. Think open-concept interiors with floor-to-ceiling windows, Cumaru wood shutters, outdoor soaking tubs, and wildlife that will absolutely wake you up at night. The vibe is well-traveled and wellness-forward, not glitzy or party-centric.
Book Carao at least a day in advance — it's the most in-demand restaurant and fills up fast
Why It Matters
Holds Three MICHELIN Keys for two consecutive years (2024–2025) and appeared on the Condé Nast Traveler Gold List 2025. Named #1 hotel in North America and #8 in the world on the World's 50 Best Hotels. It's one of the last remaining beachfront tropical rainforests in Mexico, and the property was built around the trees — if a tree had to be moved, it was replanted.
An hour north of Puerto Vallarta, One&Only Mandarina sits on 80 acres of coastal rainforest above the Pacific on the Riviera Nayarit. All 105 accommodations — ranging from treehouses perched 12 meters above the jungle floor to clifftop villas — are standalone structures with private plunge pools and dedicated butler service. The whole place is designed by Rick Joy Architects using local, sustainable materials, and it genuinely feels like the jungle is the design brief, not just the backdrop.
