Our Habitas Bacalar is a 34-room adults-only wellness resort on the Lagoon of Seven Colors, about 22 miles from the Belize border. The tented A-frame structures are built on raised wooden beams to protect the ancient microbialite reef below — so yes, this place takes sustainability seriously, not just as a tagline. Set deeper into the property among the palms and vegetation, close to the restaurant and spa. Palapa fronds on the rooftop keep things cool and connected to the jungle canopy overhead. Same local-materials aesthetic as the other rooms, with private outdoor shower under the leafy canopy. Good for guests who want more privacy and shade, less lagoon-gazing.
KingLagoon Breeze Room
The middle-ground option — a blend of lagoon and jungle views from a single vantage point. Similar layout and size to the other room types, with the same earthen-tone interiors and Mayan-print textiles. Marble and wood bathroom, private open-air terrace. A good compromise if you want some water view without paying full Lagoon Room rates.
KingLagoon Room
The front-row seats of the property. These A-frame tented rooms look directly out over the lagoon's seven shades of blue, so you wake up to exactly that — color and water and nothing else. Interiors use earthy tones, local woods, and Mayan-inspired textiles. Private open-air terrace for lagoon watching. Air-conditioned, mini-fridge bar, personal safe, hair dryer. Bath products contain locally harvested Melipona honey. No television.
