Hong Kong's first warehouse-conversion boutique hotel, opened in 2014 in the fast-rising Wong Chuk Hang district on the south side of Hong Kong Island. After a September 2024 rebrand from 'Ovolo Southside' to 'Southside by Ovolo', the property launched new Rock Star Suites, a premium steakhouse, and a refreshed lobby — all while keeping the industrial DNA that made it interesting in the first place. A family-friendly suite themed around B.Duck — the Hong Kong-beloved rubber duck character. The story: in 1992, a cargo ship capsized and spilled 29,000 plastic ducks into the ocean, and the character became a cultural touchstone. Here it gets its own room with a play tent, duck-branded décor, and enough entertainment to keep kids occupied. Two bathrooms, 44 sqm total. Quirky even for this hotel.
