Why It Matters
The Echapresto Brothers' involvement is the real draw here — two Michelin stars walking in every day to run your hotel restaurant is genuinely rare. Add in El Calado, an underground cellar with the world's largest collection of Rioja Q.D.O. vintages, and the fact this is the first major luxury hotel to open in Haro, and you have something genuinely different for wine travelers.
A 38-room, five-star boutique hotel inside a restored 18th-century baroque palace in the center of Haro, Spain's self-proclaimed wine capital. Opened March 2026, it was redesigned by TRENCHS Studio, preserving original stonework and timber beams while layering in contemporary interiors. The whole operation is anchored by the Echapresto Brothers — the two-Michelin-star duo behind Venta Moncalvillo — who run the restaurant, curate the wine bar, and oversee what the hotel claims is the world's largest collection of Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin wines.
