Why It Matters

The first and only Barolo Cru Relais in existence, set literally inside one of Barolo's most revered vineyards. Every suite is named after a different MGA (cru), and the private tastings are led by sommelier Roberto Stroppiana, who previously worked at Ducasse's Le Louis XV and Piazza Duomo (3 Michelin Stars). The cellar holds vintages back to 1958 — available to taste on request.

Palás Cerequio is a wine resort in the Cerequio cru of La Morra, owned by the Michele Chiarlo winery and housed in a restored 18th-century noble palace. There are 11 suites split into two distinct personalities — four baroque-styled rooms in the original manor and seven minimal, contemporary suites in new additions — all surrounded by working Barolo vineyards. Walls display original artworks by painter Giancarlo Ferraris, soil samples from the crus are displayed in cases, and the 18th-century cellars hold a Caveau of over 6,000 bottles going back to 1958. This place takes the concept of a wine destination seriously, but it genuinely works as a standalone luxury stay too.
