Why It Matters
One of Amsterdam's oldest operating hotels (building from 1840), home to MOMO, the city's first upscale Asian-fusion restaurant, which has been an Amsterdam institution since 2008. Park Centraal Amsterdam sits in a striking black corner building on Stadhouderskade — it was painted black during WWII air raid precautions, and they just kept it that way. With 189 rooms, it's not a small boutique, but it feels surprisingly considered. The location is genuinely exceptional: Vondelpark is directly outside the front door, the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum are a short walk, and Leidseplein's bars and theaters are five minutes on foot. The building itself dates to 1840, originally a tea house, and has been hosting guests in one form or another for over 180 years.

The entry-level room and, honestly, a tight fit at 16 m². But it packs in a proper double bed, desk, espresso machine, minibar, and a bathroom with a walk-in rain shower. The open-concept bathroom layout means no wall between shower and sleeping area — clever use of space, though not for everyone.

A meaningful step up from the Classic — 24 m² with a proper separate bathroom (rain shower), top-of-the-range mattress, and a Marshall Bluetooth speaker. Can be configured with two single beds, which makes it a solid option for traveling colleagues or friends.
