Park Gstaad
Contemporary alpine luxury — Joseph Dirand's signature darkness-and-light aesthetic applied to a classic Swiss chalet. Sleek and intimate rather than grand and showy. The kind of place where quiet discretion is the whole point.
The hotel's GM Reto Moser has 20+ years with Four Seasons across Europe, Middle East, and Asia — he's the real deal and a good sign for service quality at opening
Why It Matters
Gstaad's original five-star hotel, opened 1910, completely reimagined by acclaimed French designer Joseph Dirand as Four Seasons' first Swiss Alps property. One of Europe's most storied alpine addresses entering its most ambitious chapter yet.
Park Gstaad opened in 1910 as Gstaad's first five-star hotel and spent more than a century collecting famous guests — the Aga Khan sat out WWII here, Princess Grace of Monaco passed through, and Audrey Hepburn was a regular. The hotel is currently shuttered for a complete overhaul and comes back in late 2026 as The Park Gstaad, A Four Seasons Hotel. French designer Joseph Dirand — the man behind Four Seasons at The Surf Club in Surfside — is redoing the interiors from scratch: expect dark-meets-light contrasts, warm natural textures, and a contemporary take on the alpine chalet. When it reopens, expect 75 rooms and suites, seven restaurants and lounges, and a spa anchored by Clinique La Prairie. Not bookable right now.
