Why It Matters
One of the few themed-room boutique hotels in the UNESCO Upper Middle Rhine Valley. Michelin Guide listed and featured on Tablet Hotels. Family-run since the 1990s by Ulla Graf-Joswig and Hans-Joachim Joswig, who trained in top hotels before creating their own idiosyncratic property.
A 1908 Art Nouveau villa sitting across from a spa park in Bad Salzig — technically 4 km outside central Boppard, though the train station is a 10-minute walk. The Joswig family has filled its 23 rooms and apartments with world-themed décor: think New York loft murals, an Afrika Lodge with earthy tones, a Renoir room that feels like a French atelier. It's quirky in the best possible way, and the family-run warmth shows in every interaction.

Germany's most popular canoeing river, the Lahn, is accessible via Lahnstein (approx. 12 km). Full tour packages can be organized through Lahn Tours. The route runs through undisturbed nature with gentle rapids and hand-operated locks.
Boppard sits on the Rhine Cycle Route, one of Europe's most popular long-distance cycling paths. Mountain bike park in Boppard is well known. E-bikes and standard bikes available for rent via Rhein-Bike in Boppard (approx. 4 km away).
The Rhine Castles Trail starts directly from the hotel's front door. The Rheinsteig runs on the opposite Rhine bank. Multiple marked loops accessible on foot, including the Fünfseenblick (Five Lakes View) trail and the Ehrbachklamm gorge hike.
On-site fitness suite with a range of equipment available to hotel guests.
The 18-hole Jakobsberg Golf Club is approximately 12 km from the hotel. Taster courses for beginners and advanced players are available. The course is an official PGA of Germany training base with views of the Taunus, Westerwald and Hunsrück hills.
Guests receive a free Mittelrheinbahn rail pass with their booking, allowing unlimited travel on local trains along the Rhine Valley. The Bad Salzig station is a 7–10 minute walk from the hotel.
The KD shipping line pier is a 9-minute walk. Rhine cruises run through the UNESCO World Heritage Valley, passing castles and vineyards. The historic paddle wheel ship Goethe is a recommended option through the Middle Rhine Valley.
