Why It Matters
One of the oldest continuously operating hotels in the world, in the same family since 1446. The 1,800 m² Wellness Pavilion is included in every stay, as is green fee access at the nearby 18-hole Hochschwarzwald golf course. The property spans five buildings from different eras: the Belle-Époque main house from 1890 and a historic Black Forest House from 1639 (where Marie Antoinette once slept). About 90% of the interior has been renovated, mixing modern boutique style with kept historic elements. Dedicated indoor and outdoor children's play areas on the property. Indoor playground in the main building. Outdoor play area in the hotel park. Children's bathrobes, toiletries, and specialised menu items are standard.
Daily green fees at the Hochschwarzwald Golf Club 18-hole course are included in the room rate. The course is about a 10-minute drive from the hotel.
Cross-country skiing trails start from the hotel grounds in winter. Sledge hire is also available in winter, subject to availability, and is included as an Adler service.
The Southern Black Forest Nature Park begins immediately outside the hotel. Pocket hiking guides and local maps are provided complimentary to guests. Trails range from gentle valley walks to longer mountain routes.
