Parkhotel Mondschein
Heritage-meets-cool-Berlin energy. Design-forward without feeling sterile. Think ecstatic dance sessions and cacao ceremonies in an 800-year-old building. Artists in residence, global chefs popping up for one-off dinners, outdoor film screenings and DJ sets in the park — alongside a proper sauna and a pool that looks like a 1960s Italian holiday postcard.
Ask for a room in the historic wing — same price categories but you get the original stucco ceilings and the deepest sense of the building's age
Why It Matters
One of the most culturally animated city hotels in the Dolomites. It's a Design Hotels member, ranked #1 hotel in Bolzano on TripAdvisor, and the only place in the city where you can go from a yoga ceremony to a natural wine aperitivo in the park without leaving the property. The 1320 Luna Restaurant on-site is one of the oldest inns in all of Bolzano.
A family-run boutique hotel in the heart of Bolzano, occupying a building whose oldest stones date to 1320. Art Nouveau balconies jut from an ochre, ivy-draped facade; inside, wide terrazzo corridors, stucco ceilings, and original herringbone parquet rub up against commissioned contemporary artwork and walnut furniture. It reopened in May 2022 after a major renovation guided by Merano-based studio Biquadra, with 'Cinematic Italian' as the design mantra. Brothers Klaus and Moritz Dissertori run the place, and their fingerprints are everywhere — from the curated breakfast menu to the rotating artist residencies.
