Petra Segreta Resort & Spa
Intimate, owner-run, wildly romantic rural retreat with serious food credentials. The design mixes Sardinian craft with oriental objects Rosella has collected on travels — it feels personal rather than hotel-branded. Quiet is the defining feature. No beach club, no nightlife. You come here to eat very well, stare at the sea from your terrace, and do nothing fast.

Why It Matters
Sardinia's sole Relais & Châteaux property. Il Fuoco Sacro earned its first Michelin star in 2022 and retained it in the 2026 guide, with menus co-designed by Enrico Bartolini — Italy's most Michelin-starred chef. The resort runs its own working farm (Stazzo Malcusa) which supplies the kitchens with vegetables, cheese, herbs, and some meat. For 2026, six rooms have been fitted with plunge pools and the spa has been entirely reimagined as the Secret Stone Spa.
Petra Segreta sits on five hectares of wild Sardinian hillside above San Pantaleo, surrounded by ancient granite boulders, juniper, myrtle, and holm oaks — with clear sightlines across the water to Corsica. The place was born in 2001 when architect Rosella Marchese and her husband Luigi Bergeretto started with just 13 rooms; today it's Sardinia's only Relais & Châteaux property and home to a Michelin-starred restaurant. Low-slung stone buildings modelled on traditional Gallura shepherd huts (stazzi) are scattered across the hillside, each barely visible among the rocks, and 10 of the 27 rooms come with a private heated pool.
