Flores
Historic palace luxury with contemporary interiors — granite facade outside, clean lines and neutral tones inside. The blend skews sophisticated rather than fussy.
The 11 Palace rooms carry more historic character — original stonework, higher ceilings — versus the cleaner modern look of the new wing. Worth asking for one specifically.
Why It Matters
One of the few Porto hotels occupying an actual 16th-century mansion, with a Nasoni-designed chapel in the courtyard. Michelin Guide-listed. Rated #7 of 195 Porto hotels on TripAdvisor. The Mandalay Spa won Best Luxury Emerging Spa at the World Luxury Spa Awards 2020.
A 5-star boutique hotel on Porto's pedestrianized Rua das Flores, built around a 16th-century palace fused with a purpose-built contemporary wing. Between them sits a granite-paved courtyard complete with a small baroque chapel designed by Nicolau Nasoni — the same architect behind the Clérigos Tower next door. The 66 rooms split between 11 in the old palace (more character, higher ceilings, Bvlgari bath products) and 55 in the sleeker new wing, and there's a Mandalay Spa, Bistrô Flores restaurant, Bar dos Maias, and a compact indoor pool.
