Post Lech Arlberg
Traditional Austrian alpine inn elevated to 5-star luxury. Antiques and carved wood, but with genuinely modern spa facilities and a kitchen that punches well above its weight. Formal but warm — staff in dirndl, silver service at breakfast, the full performance.
Book the Kaiser Suite (114 m²) for the most space — it's nearly double the next-largest room and has a fireplace lounge
Why It Matters
One of Austria's most storied alpine hotels: Moosbrugger family-owned since 1937, Relais & Châteaux member since 1976, and the hotel that royalty — including Queen Juliana of the Netherlands — has returned to for generations. The Postblick restaurant is in the Michelin Guide 2026. A genuine institution in one of Europe's most prestigious ski resorts.
The Post has been family-owned since 1937 and has belonged to Relais & Châteaux since 1976 — nearly half a century in that company. That longevity says something. Sitting right in the centre of Lech village, this pale-pink hotel is resolutely traditional: local antiques in every room, hand-carved woodwork, tiled stoves, staff in Austrian garments. But it's been so meticulously maintained and quietly modernised over the decades that it manages to feel both genuinely old and suspiciously pristine at the same time. The kitchen is guided by Michael Volcanjsek, the wine list has won Wine Spectator recognition two years running, and the spa — added in a 2010 wing — has a heated outdoor pool that guests use year-round, even when it's snowing. 46 rooms and suites across the main house, plus the separate Chalet Säge opposite.
