Post-Plaza is a 82-room city hotel in the heart of Leeuwarden, carved out of two nationally protected heritage buildings: a century-old postal office and the 1882 Gratama Bank, linked by a glass bridge. The Grand Café is the real draw here — a soaring, wooden-ceilinged former post office that doubles as the social hub of the city. Rooms are deliberately compact and focused (no minibars, TVs tucked into antique closets), because the philosophy is simple: you are here to be out in Leeuwarden, not holed up in your room.

Buma Suite
Named after Bernhardus Buma, who lived here in 1831. This is the honeymoon-grade option: private balcony, in-suite sauna, bathtub, and spacious rain shower. If you want proper wellness without a public spa, this is it. Fully kitted out for the longest, most relaxed stay possible.
Comfort Room
Available in both the old bank building and the post office wing — no two are identical. Clean, well-executed rooms with twin box spring beds, crisp linen, and a rain shower. The size variation across the two heritage buildings means you might get something with a quirky original architectural feature.

Deluxe Room
Step up to a king-size box spring if you want a proper double bed. The Deluxe also gives you more floor space and — in the post office wing — potentially that triangular top-floor wall with angled windows overlooking the old streets. TVs are hidden inside antique closets.

Family Room
The only room configured for families, with four permanent beds: one king box spring and one twin box spring. Cleverly positioned in the hotel so your baby monitor stays in range when you are downstairs in the Grand Café.

Gratama Suite
The most luxurious standard room, housed in the bank building and named after the Gebroeders Gratama bank that operated here from 1882. Beautifully restored original architectural elements make it feel like sleeping inside a piece of Dutch financial history. Also doubles well as a small private meeting room.
Junior Comfort Room
The smallest room in the hotel, sitting on the entresol level of the former post office. At 18-20m² it is compact but the authentic post office setting gives it real character. Good choice for a single night when you plan to spend most of your time out in the city or at the Grand Café.

Single Room
Only two of these exist in the hotel, so they book up fast. At 22m² with a 140cm-wide box spring, it is a genuinely comfortable single room rather than a closet with a bed. Rain shower, flat-screen TV, and coffee/tea making facilities included.

Regular city bikes and e-bikes available for rent, bookable at reception or when making your online reservation. Leeuwarden and the Frisian countryside are extremely bike-friendly.
Rent the hotel's own sustainable electric boat (via Greenjoy) for a 2-hour sail through Leeuwarden's historic canals. The hotel can pack a lunchbox or snack box to take onboard. Contact reception to reserve.
Every Friday evening from 16:30, local Frisian artists perform live in the Grand Café. Rotating lineup includes artists like Tim Tells, Hester Tadema, Marije de Vries and Jord Brinkhuis. The second and fourth Saturday afternoons also have live music.
Classic High Tea service available at the Grand Café. Gift cards for High Tea can be purchased via the hotel shop.
