Quercus
Old-world European aristocracy meets regenerative American ranch. Antiques and heirlooms from the Visconti di Modrone family share space with Japanese Shou Sugi Ban timber, organic linen, and red-light therapy stations. The whole thing feels less like a hotel stay and more like a very well-connected friend invited you to their 3,800-acre family property.

Why It Matters
Georgia's sole Relais & Châteaux member. Only four cabins on site, keeping the property near-private. The restaurant (Uberto) is helmed by a Michelin-starred chef and is the only fine-dining destination for miles. The estate is run as an active biodynamic working ranch — cattle, quarter horses, certified naturally grown gardens — and all of it feeds directly into the guest experience.
Quercus is a working cattle ranch turned ultra-luxury all-inclusive retreat on 3,800 acres of forest, pasture, and Flint River frontage in rural Gay, Georgia. Four individually named cabins sleep a maximum of a handful of guests at a time, and every meal — from in-suite breakfast to the Friday-Saturday tasting menu at on-site restaurant Uberto — is cooked by Chef Ryan Smith of Atlanta's Michelin-starred Staplehouse. Georgia's only Relais & Châteaux property, it opened as a hotel after the founding Visconti di Modrone family's second generation decided to share the land they've farmed since 1978.
