Raku Suisan
Contemporary Japanese ryokan. Quiet and intimate. Warm timber interiors, irori fireplace lounge, art gallery, no communal pool or flashy lobby. The focus is firmly on onsen, food, and landscape.

Why It Matters
Only traditional Japanese inn in the Niseko area. Every one of its 18 rooms has a private open-air onsen bath with a direct view of Mt. Yotei. Three separate restaurants serve 18 rooms — an omakase French creative, a 4-seat Japanese counter, and a teppanyaki grill — all built around ingredients sourced directly from producers in the Shiribeshi region. Won the Excellence Award at the 2024 Wood Utilization Promotion Competition for its use of Hokkaido timber.
Raku Suisan is a 18-room modern ryokan set on a quiet hillside in Kabayama, on the fringes of the Niseko ski area, with an unobstructed face-on view of Mt. Yotei. Opened in December 2020, it leans hard into the ryokan concept — private in-room onsen fed by Kabayama Onsen Annupuri No Yu hot spring, three separate dining rooms, local Hokkaido timber construction — but without the stuffiness. Think warm wood tones and high ceilings rather than centuries-old tatami conventions.
