Opened in December 2019 in the heart of Kumamoto's Shinshigai shopping district, the 229-room hotel centers on public baths fed by what is reputedly Japan's finest groundwater, with an open-air wooden bath overlooking a carefully designed Japanese garden. Rooms lean into modernist Japanese minimalism — muted tones, clean lines, local wood and textile details — and the standout breakfast is genuinely rooted in the region, from Akagyu beef burgers you grill yourself to dried Amakusa seafood over charcoal.

At breakfast, guests grill their own Kumamoto Akagyu (100% red wagyu) burger patties and build custom burgers. A hands-on experience that doubles as a food education moment about one of Kumamoto's signature products.
Guests toast Amakusa dried seafood — caught in the East China Sea surrounding Amakusa island — over a personal charcoal grill at the breakfast buffet. Amakusa fish paste and karashi lotus root can also be grilled this way.
