Why It Matters
Holds a Michelin Key 2025. Just 12 rooms. Tied to the Tenuta Castello di Morcote, a 172-hectare working organic wine estate anchored by the only medieval castle in the Lugano territory. Two restaurants — one on-site, one inside the vineyard. Adults-only (14+). Designed by FNA Concept's Francesca Antonello Neri.
A 17th-century former convent turned 12-room boutique hotel, perched above Lake Lugano in Ticino — the Italian-speaking corner of Switzerland. The property feels more Tuscany than Alps: stone walls, painted wood ceilings, antique tile floors, and views straight down to the lake from most rooms. Interior designer Francesca Antonello Neri oversaw the renovation, pulling in natural materials and quiet luxury without making it feel precious. The whole estate connects to a 172-hectare organic wine estate and medieval castle, so vineyard walks, tastings, and dinners under the vines are all on the table.

The Mediterranean garden with sun loungers is open to guests for reading, relaxing, and evening aperitivi. Lake and mountain views from the garden terrace are the real draw here.

Special evening events held at Ristorante Vicania inside the estate — dinner paired with estate wines in the vineyard setting. Offered seasonally. Highly rated by guests. Hotel provides free shuttle.
Guided wine tasting at the family's 172-hectare organic wine estate, featuring estate-grown whites, reds and other varieties produced using biodynamic methods. Includes a walk through the estate's history from traditional farming to modern winemaking.
