Relais Le due Matote
Rustic-luxury farmhouse with serious culinary ambition. Warm, textured interiors: terracotta tiles, hand-painted walls, antique finds, open fireplaces. Not minimalist. Not grand hotel. More like a beautifully restored private estate that happens to have a gourmet restaurant and a Comfort Zone spa tucked into the old cellar vaults.
The Sunday Alta Langa Brunch is open to non-guests and draws locals — book it even if you're not staying
Why It Matters
Listed in the Michelin Guide and part of Tablet Hotels. The property holds the Registro Italiano Dimore di Eccellenza certification and has earned a 2-fork Michelin recognition for L'Orangerie in 2026. Every suite is named after a rose variety — the relais has planted 12 English rose varieties on the grounds to extend Bossolasco's famous 350-variety rose tradition. The outdoor infinity pool looks across Langhe vineyard hills toward Monviso.
A 16th-17th century Piedmontese farmhouse, fully rebuilt by owner Arianna Cefis using salvaged local materials — old cement floor tiles from regional cascine, hand-sourced antiques — into a six-suite relais that takes food as seriously as sleep. The restaurant L'Orangerie, led by Neapolitan chef Luca La Peccerella, is the anchor. But the suites, all named after rose varieties in tribute to Bossolasco's identity as 'the Land of Roses', hold their own: every one is 45–70 sqm, king bed only, and built for lingering. It's a small property — just six rooms at the relais itself — so it stays genuinely intimate.
