Reschio Hotel
Italian aristocratic countryside meets organic contemporary design. Bespoke furniture from the estate's own BB for Reschio Studio, antique heirlooms, oil paintings, and the occasional crossbow-width window that reminds you exactly where you are. No TVs. Bring a book.
Book the Grand Fireplace Room in the Bathhouse rather than the standard Roman bath experience — it's entirely private and far more atmospheric
Why It Matters
Three MICHELIN Keys, World's 50 Best Hotels 2024, and one of the most photographed outdoor pools in Italy — an oval cut directly into the lawn outside the castle walls. The estate is run entirely on biodynamic principles: flour is ground at a nearby water mill, pasta uses eggs from the estate's own chickens, olive oil is cold-pressed from century-old groves, and the in-room bars are stocked with estate-distilled gin.
A genuine 10th-century castle on a 3,700-acre private estate straddling the Umbrian and Tuscan hills. Count Benedikt Bolza and his artist wife Donna Nencia Corsini spent over a decade restoring it before opening to guests in 2021. The result: 36 rooms and suites with no two alike, estate-grown produce in two restaurants, 40 purebred Spanish horses, a subterranean spa in the old wine cellars, and a rewilded landscape teeming with roe deer and wild boar.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Curated multi-day workshops in artisan crafts, hosted at the Tabaccaia — the former tobacco factory repurposed as a creative hub and design studio.
Spend time with the resident beekeeper to understand how the estate's millefiori honey is produced. The same honey ends up in the hotel kitchen and spa treatments.
On the estate grounds.

Hands-on cooking classes using estate-grown and foraged ingredients. Estate pasta, made from eggs from on-site chickens and flour milled at a nearby water mill, is a highlight.
High-quality e-bikes available for guests to explore the 3,700-acre estate. Walking trails wind through ancient forests and wildflower meadows.
Bespoke picnics laid out in nature across the estate — one of the 'secret spaces' the hotel curates for guests.
Fishing on the estate's private lake.
Join estate foragers to learn about the medicinal and nutritional properties of Reschio's flora — herbs, flowers, and truffles that feed both the kitchen and the spa.
Guided rides on purebred Spanish Andalusian horses through the estate's rolling hills and wildflower meadows. Master trainer Antonello Radicchi oversees the stables, which house 40 horses. Options for experienced riders and complete beginners.
Row across the estate's private lake, with the option to book the Lake Cabin for an exclusive, secluded retreat on the water.
The Equestrian Theatre hosts open-air film nights during summer. Italian cinema greats are the natural focus — best experienced at sunset with the Umbrian hills as backdrop.
The estate's Lake Cabin can be reserved exclusively for a day of total seclusion on the water.
The estate's light-free night sky makes it exceptional for stargazing. Available as part of the Celestial Retreat offer or as a standalone arrangement.
Join the estate's truffle hunter and his dogs through the ancient forests. The estate's mapping programme tracks prime foraging sites, allowing sufficient recovery time between harvests.
Guided walks with the estate gamekeeper through rewilded forests home to roe deer, wild boar, foxes, porcupines, and nightingales.
