Joshua Tree
Modern desert minimalism. Stark but considered. The kind of place where the whole point is to do less.
Get up for sunrise — the light on the desert at dawn from the property is remarkable
Why It Matters
First new-build full-service hotel in California's high desert in 15+ years. Co-founded by architect and designer Ben Uyeda, who built a massive social media following documenting the hotel's modular construction. The property claims to be the only hotel with direct access to Joshua Tree National Park's North Entrance. On 180 acres, only 10 of which are developed.
RESET opened in July 2025 on 180 acres right at Joshua Tree National Park's North Entrance — the first new-build hotel in the area in over 15 years. The architecture says it all: modular, corrugated-sided cabins arranged in clean rows across the desert floor, designed to nearly disappear into the landscape. No TVs. No single-use plastics. Every room has a private patio with a Solo Stove fire pit, and the top room category plants a stone soaking tub directly in the outdoor space.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
Non-guests can purchase day passes for pool, sauna, and cold plunge access through ResortPass.
Over 100 acres of undeveloped desert around the property are laced with self-guided trails. The North Entrance of Joshua Tree National Park is a 5-minute drive for more serious hiking.
Saltwater pool and adjacent hot tub set against open desert and distant mountain ridgelines. Heated and open throughout the day. Poolside cabanas with shaded sofa seating.
The property's 160+ acres of playa feature rotating site-specific art installations. Expect the unexpected — DJs by the pool, artists-in-residence, sculptural pieces across the open desert.
Weekly yoga session open to all guests. Held outdoors.
On-site Celestron telescopes and binoculars available for guest use. The Moonpad — a 30-foot circular outdoor sculpture — serves as a dedicated stargazing base. With virtually no light pollution, clear moonless nights here regularly reveal the Milky Way. Room patios also work as personal stargazing platforms.
