Why It Matters
Part of the Barcelona-based Brummell Projects portfolio, this is Marrakech's answer to a design hotel in a genuinely historic shell. Much of the furniture, brass bathtubs, and fibreglass bar stools were made on-site by Moroccan artisan brothers Rachid and Abdessamia Bargamane. Berber bowls, vintage rugs from Bab El Khemis market, and original waha o gaza (beam-and-plank) ceilings from the 1880s coexist with Spanish Santa Living furnishings and Italian design classics.
A five-room adults-only design riad inside a genuine 1880 Mauresque palace, thoughtfully renovated by Barcelona-based architect Claudia Raurell. Desert-rose tadelakt walls meet hand-poured terrazzo floors and artisan-crafted furnishings — Italian Pipistrello lamps on the rooftop, Marset Aura glass in the rooms, and Egon Eiermann's folding chairs at breakfast. The central courtyard with sculpted water fountains and carved arcades is the real star, with the rooftop plunge pool adding a modern counterpoint above the Medina roofline.

A separate, entirely standalone house adjacent to the main riad, renovated by Moroccan multi-artist Rachid Bargamane. Four bedrooms, four bathrooms, two fully equipped kitchens, a high rooftop terrace with exceptional Atlas Mountain views, and a private teardrop-shaped plunge pool. Rented exclusively as a whole unit — breakfast and daily cleaning service included. Minimum three-night stay. Groups of up to eight adults.

Fountain Standard
Compact at 12 sqm — honest about what it is — but wildly popular with solo travelers and couples who don't plan to spend much time inside. Positioned directly on the patio, you can dip your feet in the water fountains just outside the door. An outdoor reading nook compensates for the tight square footage. Access through a walk-through wardrobe. Some rooms above the entrance can pick up alley noise.

Medina Deluxe
The grandest rooms in the riad, three of them on the first floor. Magnificent high-ceiling bathrooms with a handcrafted brass bathtub take centre stage. Indoor-outdoor living configuration with a fireplace — genuinely useful in cooler months. Minibar corner included. These are the rooms where the artisan work is most visible.
