Rivertown Lodge
Minimalist-artisan. Part design magazine spread, part upstate bunkhouse. Shaker influences meet contemporary Hudson sensibility — nothing showy, everything intentional. The lobby feels like a curated living room, not a hotel lobby.
Take the Amtrak from Penn Station — it's a 2-hour ride and the station is a mile from the hotel, so you genuinely don't need a car
Why It Matters
Designed head-to-toe by Workstead (their first full hotel project) using local Hudson Valley makers, it set the template for Hudson's boutique hotel scene. The original 1920s theater marquee still hangs over Warren Street. Its dining room is getting a serious upgrade: 3-time James Beard-nominated chef Efrén Hernández is opening PEZ, a coastal Mexican restaurant, on-site in May 2026.
Rivertown Lodge is a 27-room independently owned boutique hotel housed in a 1920s former movie theater on Hudson's main street, Warren Street. The space was transformed by owners Kim Bucci and Ray Pirkle alongside Brooklyn design studio Workstead, using almost exclusively local Hudson Valley craftspeople — from the custom brass light fixtures and beds to the cherry-wood front desk and the bar itself. The result is spare but genuinely warm: wood-burning stoves flanking the lobby, a communal kitchen with free drip coffee, screened-in porches on the second floor, and rooms that swap closets for a coat rod and let the craftsmanship do the talking.
