Why It Matters
One of the few Michelin-starred restaurant hotels directly on the Lake Constance waterfront. Family ownership (Lang family) gives it a genuinely personal character, and the combination of star-rated cooking, winemaker evenings, and a dedicated cooking academy with the chef himself is rare for a 25-room property.
A family-run lakefront hotel sitting right on Meersburg's Uferpromenade, with Lake Constance and the Swiss Alps visible from most rooms. The Lang family has built the hotel's reputation around serious food — Michelin-starred chef Markus Philippi runs the Casala restaurant — and on that location, which puts you within walking distance of a medieval castle, a thermal spa directly across the street, and the boat dock. Twenty-five rooms, all individually decorated in a Mediterranean style, all with a balcony or terrace. No pool on-site, but the Meersburg Therme sauna-world is literally across the road.

The hotel maintains its own Blüten-Kräutergarten (herb and flower garden) with relaxation loungers and a garden lounge area. Chefs harvest herbs and flowers from it for house-made tea blends — sold in the hotel shop — and use them in the kitchen without any chemical processing.
The hotel provides maps and tips for regional hiking (including the GuckinsLand Premiumwanderweg and Höchsten mountain trail) and the Bodensee cycling circuit. Bike rental can be arranged. The vineyard landscape behind the hotel is excellent for leisurely walks.
Hands-on cooking classes led personally by Michelin-starred chef Markus Philippi. Sessions typically run on Saturdays and cover themes like 'Orient & Asia,' 'Sauces & Stocks,' and 'Italian Cuisine.' Includes welcome drink, drinks during the course, a 3-course menu with wine pairing, a recipe booklet, apron, group photo, and certificate. Companion ticket available for the dinner portion only.
Boat schedules and brochures for BSB (Bodensee-Schiffsbetriebe) lake cruises are available at the reception desk. The ferry dock is within walking distance. Day trips to Konstanz, Mainau Island, Lindau, and Austrian Bregenz are all easily done by water.
The hotel works with Wassersport Schattmaier to arrange yacht and motorboat rentals on Lake Constance. Tauchschule Meersburg (the local diving school), a short distance away, offers beginner and advanced dive courses and introduction dives.
