Why It Matters
ROOST Cleveland was the first location outside Philadelphia for the brand, and it carries the largest floor plans in the entire ROOST portfolio. The building itself is a piece of Cleveland history — Daniel Burnham designed it as a May Company department store in 1915; it sat mostly vacant for decades before Bedrock (backed by Cavaliers chairman Dan Gilbert) restored it. The result is a rare hotel where the architecture actually earns its keep.
ROOST Cleveland occupies three floors of the May Company Building, a landmark 1915 department store designed by architect Daniel Burnham. The brand takes the usually forgettable extended-stay genre and runs it through a boutique hotel filter: 62 loft-style apartments with vintage Oushak rugs, Gubi coffee tables, Original BTC light fixtures, and Lumas artwork — all sitting in a beautifully restored terra cotta facade with an iconic pediment clock. No restaurant, no bar. Just a smart apartment that happens to have a 24/7 concierge and someone ready to loan you a bike.
