Royal Malewane is a collection of four distinct luxury safari lodges — Malewane Lodge, Waterside, Farmstead, and Masiya's Camp — plus three exclusive-use private villas, all set on the Thornybush Private Game Reserve on the western border of Greater Kruger. The original Biden family holiday home converted into a lodge in 1999, it won World's Leading Luxury Lodge at the 2024 World Travel Awards. Each lodge has its own personality: Malewane is classic colonial, Waterside is bold and colour-saturated, Farmstead is contemporary and intimate, and Masiya's Camp puts a luxe spin on the tented safari. Classic and timeless bush-lodge feel with an antique four-poster bed, rich timber detailing, and elevated wooden walkways linking each suite to the main lodge. Dedicated birding drives with guides who hold South Africa's top birding qualifications. The Greater Kruger hosts over 500 bird species. Useful for anyone with a life list to work on.
The signature after-dark al fresco dining experience. Guests are taken into the bush for dinner by lantern light with the sounds of wildlife around them. Considered the highlight of a stay by most guests.
