Why It Matters
The only hotel in Jena where every single room has a panoramic city view from altitude. The on-site Scala restaurant holds a Gault & Millau distinction and operates a sharing-menu format with chef Matthias Mänz. The building's 28th-floor observation deck is open to the public daily.
Perched on floors 27 to 29 of the JenTower — Jena's most iconic high-rise — Scala is the only place in the city where you sleep at 120 metres above the Saale Valley. Just 17 rooms, all facing outward with panoramic glass and 3-metre ceilings, and a Gault & Millau-recognised restaurant below the same roof. It's a small, tight operation with a strong personality, owned and run by award-winning restaurateur Christian Hempfe.

Two observation platforms on the 28th floor sit 128 metres above the city centre. Open to the public daily from 10am, weather permitting. The highest publicly accessible points on the JenTower. You don't have to be a hotel guest or restaurant diner to go up.

Two meeting and events spaces available: the Sky Conference Room on the 29th floor (15–100 people depending on configuration) and the Jena Meeting Room on the 27th floor (55 m², 16–28 people). Both include modern AV tech: HD projector with dual projection, TV, PA system, magnetic pin boards, and Wi-Fi hotspot. Also available for weddings, corporate anniversaries, and private events.
