Right across from the train station on Banegårdspladsen, Scandic The Mayor is Aarhus's most convenient mid-range city hotel. The building dates to 1937, but an October 2025 expansion brought the room count to 221 and added three rooftop suites with private terraces. No pool, and some standard rooms come in at a very tight 7–15 m², but the central location — steps from ARoS, Musikhuset, and City Hall — makes that easy to forgive.

A proper separate living room attached to the bedroom, at 30–32 m² with capacity for four. Views of Aarhus. The jump from superior to junior suite is where the hotel starts to feel genuinely comfortable rather than just functional.
King · 31 sqmMaster Suite
The flagship room added in the October 2025 expansion. A generous 40 m² with a private, furnished rooftop terrace facing Rådhusparken and ARoS — sunlit most of the day. There's a full kitchenette for light meals, a living area with sofa, and a stylish bathroom with both a separate bathtub and shower. This is the room to book for a special stay in Aarhus.
King · 40 sqmStandard Plus
More breathing room at 15–22 m², and some face Rådhusparken. Modern Scandinavian design, city atmosphere. A solid upgrade from standard for not much more.
Double · 18 sqmStandard Room
The bread-and-butter room. At 10–15 m² for two guests, it's cosy — read: snug. All the essentials are covered. Works best if you're spending most of your time out in the city.
Double or Twin · 12 sqmStandard Single
A step up from the economy in both space and light. At 8–11 m², still compact, but a reasonable choice for a short solo visit.
