Why It Matters
One of the few hotels in the Stuttgart region where you can walk straight from your room to an 18-hole championship golf course, ride horses, taste estate wines from a winery whose roots date to the 13th century, and jog around a lake — all on a privately owned royal estate still belonging to the House of Württemberg.
A 4-star modern hotel sitting on a 250-hectare estate owned by the House of Württemberg, about 10 minutes by car from Ludwigsburg city centre. The hotel building itself is clean 1960s architecture — no turrets or canopy beds — but it backs straight onto an 18th-century Baroque lake palace, a working ducal winery, an 18-hole golf course, and riding stables. The Finkbeiner family, who also run the legendary Traube Tonbach in Baiersbronn, took over the lease in 2014 and have steadily raised the quality bar.

How you'll actually spend your days.
An 18-hole course on 80 hectares of estate land, threaded through orchards, oak, beech, linden and maple trees alongside two streams and a lake. A 34-metre altitude difference adds genuine technical challenge. The hotel can arrange tee times and trial lessons on request.
The Ludwigsburg Reitverein riding club is based on the Monrepos estate, offering access to riding through the English-style park landscape.
Numerous cycling and jogging paths run through the 250-hectare English garden-style park, around the lake and through the surrounding wooded estate.
The Monrepos Lake borders the estate, offering scenic rowing in a tranquil setting with views of the Baroque lake palace.
Each summer, the estate hosts the famous Klassik Open Air concert attracting up to 8,000 guests, with a fireworks display finale. Staying at the hotel puts you at the epicentre of this major regional event.
The estate winery — the largest private vineyard in the Württemberg growing region at 40 hectares — offers wine tastings, cellar tours and wine presentations. The winemaking tradition of the House of Württemberg dates to the 13th century. The Vinothek wine shop is steps from the hotel.
