Why It Matters
Locke's first mainland European property and the brand's most central Munich location. Interior design by Fettle references the proto-Bauhaus Deutscher Werkbund movement that was literally born in Munich, making this one of the more thoughtfully site-rooted aparthotel designs in the city. The art collection features work by local artists including illustrator Veronika Grenzebach.
Schwan Locke is Locke's most central Munich outpost — 151 studio apartments in the Theresienwiese district, steps from Munich Hauptbahnhof and a short walk from the Oktoberfest grounds. The design, by London-LA studio Fettle, takes the Deutscher Werkbund movement as its starting point: think bespoke mohair-upholstered furniture, two-tone painted walls, chrome and steel details, and artwork by local artists celebrating the women of Werkbund. Every apartment has a full kitchen, dining table, and either a balcony or private terrace. No pool, no spa — but the coworking lounge, courtyard, and gym cover most bases.
