Why It Matters
It sits on a 15,000 m² lakeside meadow with its own bathing beach and jetty. The NatureSpa puts the Finnish sauna and Japanese Ofuro cedar bath directly on the lakeshore. Restaurant LammButtRind sources fish, meat, cheese and vegetables from local farms every morning and is open to non-guests. Seehotel Töpferhaus is a privately owned 4-star boutique hotel that started life in 1945 as a pottery workshop, sitting right on the shores of Lake Bistensee in the geographic heart of Schleswig-Holstein. Forty-six rooms dressed in light wood and Nordic country style, a Finnish sauna and Japanese Ofuro bath perched on the lakeshore, and a restaurant that shops locally every morning. The vibe is genuinely casual and warm — the kind of place where staff actually seem pleased to see you.
