Day or half-day sails on the Bonnie Lynn via East End Charters. Routes pass Shelter Island bluffs and quiet North Fork coves. The hotel can prepare a picnic basket for the trip. Unhurried and scenic — swimming stops and wine-sipping encouraged.

Trails through native meadows, mature woodlands, and rare mixed freshwater/saltwater wetlands begin just steps from the property. Notable birdlife includes piping plovers, ospreys, terns, warblers, hawks, and a Purple Martin colony established with the Centre Island Bird Sanctuary and the North Fork Audubon Society.

A guided tour of the Pipes Cove oyster farm — one of New York State's largest, with a 15-acre underwater lot capable of cultivating up to 3 million oysters at a time. Guests see how oysters grow from seed to maturity, handle the gear, and peer at baby oysters. The experience ends with a hands-on shucking lesson and a sea-to-table tasting of Pipes Cove varieties paired with McCall wines. Genuinely educational and memorable for adults and kids alike.

An exclusive experience reserved only for Silver Sands guests. Begins with a walk through McCall's estate vines and a look at their low-yield growing practices. McCall is one of the East Coast's largest Pinot Noir plantings, set on land that was once the Algonquin Fort Corchaug tribe's territory. The experience concludes with a private tasting in a restored 1787 barn — a space closed to the general public.
