Sala Private Thai Villa
Intimate canal-side heritage retreat. Feels like staying in a living museum of Thai domestic life, not a hotel. Polished hardwood floors, hand-painted ceiling murals, antique furniture, and open-air communal spaces that channel the traditional tai toon stilted-house lifestyle. Calm and deeply local.

Why It Matters
A five-year labor of love rescuing three derelict canal-side teak houses from Bangkok Noi. Everything is upcycled from the original structures — the 6-meter dining table is made from the old floorboards. It earned global fame as the filming location for The White Lotus Season 3. Member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, featured in Condé Nast Traveller, Travel + Leisure, Forbes, and Robb Report.
Three century-old teak stilt houses reconstructed over five years by Thai-Filipino owners Kirati Thepsoparn and Irma Go, arranged around a central courtyard along the Bangkok Noi canal. Six suites sleep up to 12 across 1 rai of land, with a 20-meter saltwater pool, herb gardens, and a fully restored 100-year-old Heritage House. This is the only private waterfront villa of its kind in Bangkok, and it was used as the Hollinger House in The White Lotus Season 3.

A curated canal and river tour with a private English-speaking archaeologist, covering the fall of Ayutthaya and the founding of Bangkok. Departs from the villa's private pier and travels along the same waterways once used by kings, merchants, and craftsmen.
The villa's signature experience for fans of The White Lotus Season 3, which filmed here. Includes a lotus-themed welcome dinner, lotus-inspired cocktails at the Heritage House, Thai lotus flower folding, morning alms with monks from Wat Suwannaram, and an exclusive in-depth tour of the house. Longer stays can add a Michelin-starred restaurant dinner, river boat trips to temples, jazz at a riverside bar, and White Lotus afternoon tea at a riverside hotel.
Guests join the daily merit-making ritual by offering food to monks during their morning walk. The villa can arrange a visit to nearby Wat Suwannaram or invite the monks to come directly to the villa.
Join the villa team in making daily offerings of flowers, candles, joss sticks, and food at the spirit house. A window into how animist folk beliefs and Buddhism coexist in everyday Thai life.
A professional photographer can be arranged to document your stay at the villa — the architecture and gardens make for exceptional shots.
Learn to cook Thai dishes with the in-house chefs. Options include going to the market together, picking herbs from the villa's own garden, or having everything prepared in advance. Can be done as show cooking in the villa's Smeg-equipped guest kitchen.
The villa manager leads this hands-on session teaching the traditional Thai craft of arranging and folding lotus flowers. A genuinely delicate skill that takes patience.
Learn the basics of the Thai alphabet — connecting consonants and vowels to eventually spell out your own name. Good for families or curious travellers.
