Why It Matters
Awarded a MICHELIN Key in 2025, one of the most visually distinctive and design-forward small inns in the Hudson Valley. It's not just a hotel — every room tells a chapter in an entirely invented village narrative, with a dollhouse replica of the inn built alongside the actual construction. High-end Ostermoor mattresses, Frette Italian sheets, and hand-painted wardrobes in every room. The Feathers restaurant has its own following among non-guests.
A 19th-century red-brick boarding house in the small Hudson Valley town of Rosendale, opened in June 2025 as the brainchild of entrepreneur Audrey Gelman (founder of The Wing co-working spaces). The inn is the full-scale physical manifestation of Gelman's Six Bells home goods brand — 11 rooms, a tavern-restaurant, and a shop, all themed around Barrow's Green, a completely fictional English village with its own cast of characters, lore, and scandals. Every inch is covered in archival wallpaper, hand-painted florals, patchwork quilts, ruffled pillows, and painstakingly sourced antiques. The building itself has operated as a hostelry since 1850 — it's gone through a half-dozen names before landing here.

The Wallkill Valley Rail Trail is a very short walk from the inn and runs for miles in both directions. Mohonk Preserve is roughly 20 minutes by car. The Widow Jane Mine is a short local detour. The Shawangunk Mountains are nearby.
An old-fashioned playroom for children stocked with vintage toys and books, fully decorated in Six Bells style. Thoughtfully tucked away so adults can linger over coffee or cocktails nearby.
Seasonal murder mystery weekend events featuring fictionalized characters in dramas drawn from the inn's invented Barrow's Green village narrative. Guests take on roles in the story, exploring the inn's rooms and public spaces as the mystery unfolds. RSVP required via email.
The inn is available for weddings, private dinners, and corporate retreats. Features private dining rooms for intimate gatherings and a large outdoor deck with waterfront views over Rondout Creek.
