Kaplankaya
Wellness-first Aegean retreat. Serious about sustainability and biohacking, but not austere. Earthy natural materials, organic gardens, private beaches, and a Mediterranean village layout that encourages wandering. Families love it; so do solo wellness travelers doing multi-day programs.
Arrive by helicopter from Milas-Bodrum Airport (10 minutes) — it's worth the splurge and the aerial view of the coastline is spectacular
Why It Matters
The 10,000 sq m spa is genuinely extraordinary — 38 treatment rooms, a Watsu pool, meditation cave, male/female/mixed hammams, a full hydrothermal circuit with an igloo and salt grotto, and a Health + Healing Centre with medical-grade diagnostics (VO2 max testing, BOD POD body composition). Two of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World (Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, Mausoleum at Halicarnassus) are within day-trip range. Conde Nast Traveler called it the hottest spot in Turkey at opening; the property has held that reputation since.
Six Senses Kaplankaya sits on a three-hectare hillside carved dramatically into the Aegean coastline north of Bodrum — well off the tourist trail in the former fishing village of Kaplankaya. Designed by Clodagh Design and Foster + Partners, the buildings hug the terrain in low, flat-roofed structures with wooden slatting, stepping down to several private coves. The resort opened in 2017 and is anchored by a 10,000 sq m spa, one of the largest in any European hotel, plus a serious wellness program that goes well beyond facials.
