Dubai The Obelisk
Egyptian-inspired architecture meets French luxury — Art Deco, polished marble, and gold accents without feeling overdone. Grand in scale but thoughtfully detailed. The lobby is genuinely dramatic, and the sheer height means almost every room has serious views.
Club Millésime access on the 51st floor includes dedicated check-in, complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails — worth upgrading to a Club Room if the price difference is reasonable
Why It Matters
The Middle East's flagship Sofitel; one of Dubai's most architecturally distinctive hotels with its obelisk form and gold pyramidion; two celebrity chef restaurants (Boulud and Taiko, though currently transitioning); the highest Club Millésime executive lounge in the global Sofitel portfolio on the 51st floor; 498 rooms and 68 suites all starting from the 19th floor.
A 51-story obelisk-shaped tower that opened in October 2020, Sofitel Dubai The Obelisk is the brand's flagship Middle Eastern property. The building mirrors the Luxor Obelisk in Paris — crowned with a gold pyramidion — and sits in Wafi City with direct connection to Wafi Mall. Inside, Egyptian grandeur (hieroglyphic lobby pillars, Bastet cat motifs at The Nine pub) gives way to French art de vivre: Art Deco interiors in neutral tones, swirl-patterned floors referencing the Arabian Desert, Balmain bath products, and Sofitel MY BED mattresses throughout. Rooms start on the 19th floor and climb to the 51st, where the highest Club Millésime lounge in the entire Sofitel network commands views across the Dubai skyline to the Burj Khalifa.
