Built in 1886 on the east bank of the Nile, the Winter Palace is one of Egypt's great grand hotels. Howard Carter announced the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb from its main terrace in 1922. Agatha Christie wrote Death on the Nile here. King Farouk took afternoon tea in the Victorian Lounge. The hotel wears its colonial British bones honestly — high ceilings, gilded mirrors, damask fabrics, and lush tropical gardens that feel genuinely removed from the chaos of Luxor's streets.
