Sol y Luna
Andean-rustic luxury with serious social purpose. Family-run, personal, and deeply rooted in the Sacred Valley landscape and community. Casitas feel like private cottages in a botanical garden, not hotel rooms. The vibe is quiet and restorative — gardens, hummingbirds, Paso horse shows over lunch — while staff keep service impeccable and low-key.

Why It Matters
One of the first luxury hotels ever built in the Sacred Valley and still one of the best. Relais & Châteaux member. The entire property functions as a social enterprise: 100% of profits support the Sol y Luna Foundation's school and community programs. Guests can visit the school next door. The 25-acre gardens attract 35 bird species including the Patagona gigas — the world's largest hummingbird. Federico Bauer's original artwork adorns every casita.
Sol y Luna is 43 stand-alone casitas spread across 25 acres of walled gardens just outside Urubamba, at 8,850 feet in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Built from local stone, adobe brick, and clay with architecture that pays homage to Inca construction, the interiors are properly luxurious — marble bathrooms, Peruvian pima cotton sheets, original murals by artist Federico Bauer in every room. Here is the thing that makes this place genuinely different: the hotel was founded not as a hotel, but as a way to fund a school. 100% of profits flow directly to the Sol y Luna Foundation, which today runs a full school serving 200+ children from extreme poverty, a center for disabled children, and an orphanage. You're not just staying somewhere beautiful — you're funding something meaningful.
