Why It Matters
One of the first luxury country houses on the island when it opened in 2006, and still one of the very few with its own working vineyard producing estate wine. The Arab-influenced interiors referencing the property's centuries-old history set it apart from the standard whitewashed finca-hotel formula.
A 15th-century Mallorcan agricultural estate converted into a luxury boutique hotel in 2006, Son Julia sits on 15 hectares just outside Llucmajor — about 20 minutes from Palma and 15 minutes from the airport. The 32 rooms and suites are finished with stone, linen, and wood, carrying a distinct Arab-influenced design thread through the original sandstone architecture. Three pools (including an adults-only option and a heated indoor one), a proper wellness centre, a restaurant that pours its own estate wine, and a working vineyard on site round out a property that genuinely earns a few days of doing very little.

The top of the house at 110 m2. King-size bed, a separate sofa area, a full living room, and a large terrace with hammocks. The bathroom has both a shower and a Jacuzzi. At roughly three and a half times the floor space of the entry-level Superior, this is the room to book for a special occasion or an extended stay.

Nespresso, minibar, full amenities. The bump in square footage over the Deluxe is easy to justify if you plan to spend real time in the room.

The main outdoor pool at 25 metres long, reached via winding paths through tropical vegetation. Ten private cabañas and over 50 Dedon loungers line it. The Agapanto Pool Bar serves drinks, cocktails, and ice cream throughout the day.
Set under the original sandstone vaulted ceiling in the historic core of the mansion. Comes with a Jacuzzi and sun-lounger relaxation area. Open year-round and the best option in cooler months.
A 12-metre pool on an elevated terrace with garden views and an Arabian-inspired carved wooden pergola overhead. Adults only. Considerably calmer than the main pool in peak season.
The hotel arranges bicycle hire for exploring the surrounding Mallorcan countryside. The flat terrain around Llucmajor makes it good cycling territory.
The property has its own working vineyard producing an estate white wine — a Chardonnay and Prensal blend — served in the Sa Magrana restaurant. The vineyard forms the backdrop to the restaurant terrace.
