Why It Matters
One of the most exclusive small properties in southern France. Only 2 lodges exist on the property, each with a private outdoor jacuzzi, a 60m² terrace, and access to a shared natural infinity pool. Just two lodges. That's the whole place. Souki Lodges & Spa is a two-unit adults-only retreat built into a forested hillside at the foot of the Pic de Vissou in the Hérault, about 50 minutes from Montpellier. Opened in 2021 by designers Fabien Morcel and Gilles Pascal, the lodges are constructed from organic French-sourced wood and elevated on stilts so they feel genuinely suspended over the garrigue. The name comes from 'souquious', the Occitan word for vine stump — fitting given the classified wine country all around. Look, the downside is obvious: with only two units, availability is nearly impossible without booking months ahead, and there's no gym, no restaurant open to the public, and you'll need a car to get anywhere.

L'Arbre Perché (The Lodge in the Trees)

Inside, the blonde wood-lined interior features a natural colour palette, fine materials, and standout Moooi lighting — three origami-bird pendants are the signature detail. Same 55m² footprint and 60m² terrace as its neighbour, with the same Moooi origami-bird lighting treatment (three pendants, each composed of four birds). Pure lines, a stunning view, and a level of privacy that feels almost absurd given the property is open year-round. Identical spec to L'Arbre Perché in terms of equipment, with subtle differences in orientation and interior atmosphere.

How you'll actually spend your days.
A short drive (9.6km) takes you to the Cirque de Mourèze, a natural amphitheatre of towering dolomite formations. Labyrinthine paths wind between enormous rocks. In the process of being classified as a Grand Site de France.
Two electric-assist mountain bikes are provided per lodge. The hosts can prepare a picnic basket to take along. From Cabrières, you can ride through vineyards and garrigue to the banks of Lac du Salagou. The bike provision is included in base rates and all packages.
The Pic de Vissou starts right from Cabrières and reaches 482m — one of the highest viewpoints in Hérault. Rocky paths, oak trees, and a launch strip used by paragliders and rock climbers. The winemakers' museographic cellar at the base is worth a stop for a tasting.
The Lac du Salagou (16km away) is a man-made lake famous for its dramatically red 'ruffe' earth. Sailing, paddleboarding, pedal boats, walking, and cycling around the banks. Reachable on the provided electric bikes.
A shared natural infinity pool steps away from both lodges, purified by aquatic plants rather than chemicals. Panoramic views over the surrounding hills. This is not a heated lap pool — it's a plant-filtered natural swimming pool with clear, clean water and a wooden sun deck. Seasonal availability.
Each lodge has its own private outdoor jacuzzi on the 60m² terrace. Heated to 32°C. Has a massage jet and bubble bench. Best at night under the stars with a glass of local Cabrières wine.
Yoga and fitness classes available on request. No on-site fitness room — all activity is outdoors or in-lodge.
The property sits within the Coteaux-du-Languedoc AOC. Cabrières wine (including the historically famous 'Estabel vermillion') is produced on the surrounding shale slopes. The host team can guide you to local producers and four wine tourism routes.
