Spa & Resort Bachmair Weissach
Modern Alpine luxury with genuine Bavarian warmth. Think understated elegance and natural materials rather than lederhosen-on-the-wall clichés. It leans multigenerational — equally serious about families as it is about couples doing spa retreats. The MIZU ONSEN SPA's Japanese bathing philosophy gives the wellness offering a distinctive philosophical edge.

Why It Matters
One of the most awarded resort properties in southern Germany. Won the 2025 Condé Nast Germany Traveller Wellness & Spa Award, World Luxury Hotel Award 2025, World Luxury Spa Award 2025, and named Luxury Family Resort of the Year 2025 by Die 101 Besten®. The MIZU ONSEN SPA — a 3,000 sqm Japanese bathing complex with temperatures ranging from 2°C to 42°C — is considered unlike anything else in Germany. The resort also operates Tegernsee Phantastisch, a 2,700 sqm multimedia adventure world, and a mountain hotel on the Wallberg at 1,512 metres elevation.
A five-star resort on the banks of Lake Tegernsee, about an hour south of Munich, built around a renovated 19th-century inn with an ornately muraled plaster façade and sloping Alpine rooflines. Owner Korbinian Kohler personally selected every piece of furniture and fabric — natural linen, local reed canvas, pale wood — keeping things rooted in Bavarian craft without tipping into kitsch. The resort has quietly grown into something far bigger than a hotel: seven restaurants, two distinct spa worlds covering 3,000 sqm, a multimedia adventure park, a riding stable, and a Kids Club that actually lets parents relax.
