Why It Matters
One of the oldest hotels in Ticino with 130+ years of history. The gourmet restaurant I Due Sud holds a Michelin star and earned the chef Domenico Ruberto 16/20 Gault & Millau points and the title of Rising Chef of Ticino 2018. The hotel is a direct lakeside property — not lake-view from a distance, but genuinely on the water's edge.
A Belle Époque palace that opened as 'Hotel Splendide' in 1887 on the shores of Lake Ceresio. 'Royal' was added in 1924 as a nod to the many royal guests who stayed. Now part of the Roberto Naldi Collection and a long-standing member of both The Leading Hotels of the World and Swiss Deluxe Hotels, it holds a Michelin star at its restaurant I Due Sud. The modernist Splendide Lifestyle Spa, added in 2019, gives the whole property a contemporary wellness dimension.
